• Button: The Button option allows shoppers to select from a list of predefined values displayed as clickable buttons. Only one value can be selected at a time.

• Button Multiple: The Button Multiple option allows shoppers to select one or more values from a group of buttons. Each value is displayed as an individual button, and multiple buttons can be selected simultaneously.

Configuration

After adding a Button or Button Multiple option to your option set, you can customize its display, available choices, styling, and visibility settings.

Basic settings

The Basic settings section controls how the option is displayed and identified throughout your store.

• Option name: The label displayed to shoppers on the storefront.
• Required field: Require shoppers to make a selection before adding the product to the cart.
• Name on cart: Customize how this option appears in the cart, checkout, and order details. If left empty, the Option name will be used.
• Option type: Choose how the option is displayed.
  • Button: Allows shoppers to select a single value from a group of buttons.
  • Button Multiple: Allows shoppers to select multiple values from a group of buttons.
• Option width: Control how much horizontal space the option occupies within the product form.
• Hide option name on store: Hide the option label on the storefront while keeping the option values visible.

Option values

Use this section to create and manage the available choices.

• Add value: Add a new selectable value to the option.
• Bulk add: Create multiple values at once.
• Sort values: Reorder option values using drag and drop.
• Set as default: Automatically select the value when the product page loads.
• Extra cost: Apply an additional charge when the value is selected.
• Linked product: Associate the value with a Shopify product.
• Description: Add additional information for the value.
• Quantity selector: Allow shoppers to specify a quantity for the selected value.

Advanced settings

Configure additional display and selection settings.

• Values layout: Control how option values are arranged on the storefront: Auto, Grid, Slider.
• Allow select all: Display a “Select All” control that allows shoppers to select all available values with a single click. Available for Button Multiple only.
• Limit value selections: Restrict the maximum number of values shoppers can select. Available for Button Multiple only.

Element styles

Customize the appearance of tooltips displayed when shoppers hover over option values.

• Background color: The background color of the tooltip.
• Text color: The text color displayed inside the tooltip.

Visibility

Use visibility rules to control when this option is displayed.

You can show or hide the option based on other option selections or configured conditions.

Frontend display

On the storefront, option values are displayed as clickable buttons.

For Button options, shoppers can select a single value.

For Button Multiple options, shoppers can select multiple values at the same time.

Depending on the option configuration, values may include images, descriptions, additional pricing, linked products, and quantity selectors.

The selected value is saved with the order and remains available throughout the purchasing workflow.

In Shopify Admin, selected values are displayed in the order details together with other product customization information, allowing merchants to easily review customer selections.
